Flag Ceremony to Salute Veterans

Share

A pre-Veterans Day salute to veterans and special recognition of postal employees who are veterans will be celebrated with a flag ceremony in Oxnard this afternoon.

A postal honor guard, that includes three postal workers who are military veterans, will attend. Postal employee Judy Niturada will sing the “Star Spangled Banner” at the ceremony, and World War II veteran Miles Teiker will play “Taps” as the flag is lowered.

The current number of U.S. veterans is estimated at 25 million. The Postal Service employs 252,000 veterans, who make up more than 30% of its total employee population of nearly 800,000.
