Nordhoff senior Eric Bensley has established himself as one of the best post players in the Frontier League. Bensley, who averaged 9.6 points last season, has increased his scoring, much to the delight of Ranger Coach Jim Hall.

“He’s really stepped it up for us this year,” Hall said. “Last year, he was solid, and this year he’s taken his game up to a new level. He’s making us better.”

Bensley scored a career-high 34 points and had 16 rebounds in a victory over Antelope Valley last week in the Ventura tournament.

St. Bonaventure Coach Gil Kim hopes to see senior Chris Saunders in the lineup Wednesday, when the Seraphs begin Tri-Valley League play against Fillmore.

Saunders, who averages 19.2 points, sat out practice last week and missed the Seraphs’ only game, a 52-51 loss to Flintridge Prep, because of a hip pointer.

“We played very flat without him,” Kim said. “He’s the guy who has the green light to shoot at all times. We kept looking for him on the floor [Friday]. It showed us how much we need him healthy.”
