Padilla Proposes Panel to Ease City Hall Access
Addressing a major complaint of secessionists in the San Fernando Valley, Harbor and Hollywood, City Council President Alex Padilla on Monday proposed a council committee to provide better access to city government.
The Committee on Neighborhoods and Schools would oversee the system of neighborhood councils, which are forming to ease secessionists’ contentions that they do not have a voice at City Hall.
Secessionists are pressing for votes in November 2002 on Valley and Harbor-area cityhood.
The new committee also would focus on ways city government can help improve the school district.
