Freighter Spills Waste Oil Off Miami

A freighter leaked 200 to 300 gallons of waste oil into waters off Miami Beach, forcing bathers out of the water along more than a mile of beachfront, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Suddarth said the 170-foot Panamanian-flagged freighter Seaboard Wouri spilled the oil about 1.5 miles offshore.
Crews contracted by ship officials were cleaning up the spill, which had drifted to shore. Suddarth said the cause of the spill was unknown.
