Dell Computer Corp. and Electronic Data Systems Corp. said they have formed an alliance that is expected to generate more than $500 million in sales over the next five years. Company executives said the alliance allows the companies to jointly market their products in the United States as a “one-stop shopping” source for computer systems and technology services. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. . . .

Camarillo-based ELabor said it acquired all of the assets of Northern California recruiting firm SkillSet Software Inc. The amount of the cash transaction wasn’t disclosed. ELabor, a work force management company founded in 1994, will keep SkillSet’s Pleasanton offices open, retain about 50 of its 75 workers, and continue to serve the company’s Fortune 500 clients. . . .

Merisel Inc. of El Segundo reported a net profit of $26.3 million, or $3.24 a share, for the first quarter, contrasted with a net loss of $13.4 million, or $1.67, a year ago. Sales dropped 82% to $165 million.
