Struggling cable operator Adelphia Communications Corp., whose founder was arrested on fraud charges last month, said that it named the dean of Yale Law School and a former cable industry executive to its board of directors.

Coudersport, Pa.-based Adelphia said Anthony Kronman, the Yale law dean, and Rod Cornelius, a private investor and former vice chairman of both Cablevision Industries and Renaissance Cable, would join the board as soon as they are approved by the Bankruptcy Court overseeing its case.

Kronman’s background is primarily in corporate responsibility, and Cornelius has a background in selling cable systems to larger competitors, according to an Adelphia statement. He sold Renaissance to Charter Communications Inc., having previously helped organize the sale of Cablevision Industries to Time Warner.
