Suit Urged Over State ‘Raid’ on County Funds
Dist. Atty. Thomas Sneddon wants county supervisors to consider a lawsuit against the state for what he described as a “raid” on county funds by the state.
Sneddon said in a letter to supervisors that he was outraged by the state’s effort to assess the county more than $1 million to pay a portion of a multimillion-dollar fine levied against California by the federal government.
The federal government is penalizing California for not implementing a federally mandated automated system to track and enforce child-support payments.
