Bloomberg News

3M Co.’s second-quarter earnings more than doubled as the maker of products ranging from medical inhalers to Post-It Notes cut costs in the U.S. and sold goods at higher prices overseas.

Net income rose to $466 million, or $1.18 a share, from $202 million, or 50 cents, a year earlier, 3M said. Sales rose about 2.2% to $4.16 billion.

3M ended four straight quarters of falling revenue, helped by the weaker U.S. dollar, which means U.S. products sold overseas are worth more.
