INS to Spend $1 Million to Ease Border Traffic

The Immigration and Naturalization Service said Friday that it plans to spend $1 million to help more binational commuters apply for special express lane passes at the U.S.-Mexican border.
Since Sept. 11, the Sentri lane program office at the Otay Mesa port of entry has been struggling to process about 1,000 applications a month for the passes, which cost $129 a year, officials said.
