Trading in Natural Gas Futures Under Review

The head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s market oversight office said he was reviewing recent trading of natural gas futures, which had a record surge Monday and approached an all-time high Tuesday.
“The magnitude is so unexpected we’re looking into it,” said William Hederman, head of FERC’s Office of Market Oversight and Investigations. The price gains generally are “consistent with the market fundamentals,” he said.
