Eight mountain climbers from Europe, Israel and Argentina died in the Peruvian Andes after an ice wall apparently collapsed, rescue officials said.

Officials said the accident occurred Monday while the climbers -- four Germans, two Israelis, one Dutch and an Argentine -- were 19,000 feet above sea level on Alpamayo mountain, 300 miles northeast of Lima.
