Fresno Sheriff’s Detective Killed in Accident
An off-duty Fresno County sheriff’s detective was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a car at an intersection, making him the fourth member of the department in two years to meet a violent death.
Aaron Kilner, 27, was killed Saturday afternoon when his Yamaha motorcycle slammed into the right front side of a 1999 Buick, police said.
He joined the force in June 1999 and was assigned last year to the anti-terrorist team.
According to the driver of the Buick, she was at a four-way stop sign and pulled out into the intersection, where she collided with the motorcycle. The driver was uninjured.
Police Lt. Jose Moralez said the department was not ready to draw any conclusions about who was responsible for the crash.
In May, an officer died when his unmarked car was hit by a speeding stolen vehicle being chased by police. Two officers have been shot to death on duty since 2001.
