Evans, Tracy Deny Any Sort of Feud

General Manager Dan Evans and Manager Jim Tracy acknowledged they have had disagreements during a disappointing season, but they said they’re still in this together.

“The suggestion that Danny and I don’t speak with one another is totally inaccurate,” Tracy said of reports of a feud.

“The guy is with me every day. He talks to me every day. We spent time with one another every day.

“But one of the things about a manager-general manager relationship is that you don’t always agree, which can sometimes be a very healthy thing. When you have two different opinions, it lends to a very qualified decision being made in the long run.

“That’s all part of what goes into this. But as far as the rest of it, I know what the truth is, and that’s just inaccurate.”

Dodger officials have privately expressed concern about the Tracy-Evans relationship, saying they have had some rocky moments. A little turbulence between a general manager and manager, however, isn’t exactly uncommon.

“There’s always going to be frustration,” Evans said. “It’s healthy when you talk those things out, and Jim and I have had some real healthy, constructive conversations over the course of the year.

“But to say that we’re not talking is utter nonsense. We’re not feuding. That’s totally untrue. In fact, during a season like this, with all the ups and downs, you probably even talk more. We’re just disappointed that we didn’t win more games.”

Evans has privately come under fire internally for roster moves that did not work out well, and now his relationship with Tracy is under the microscope.

“I can’t worry about what people perceive to be when I know it’s not true,” he said. “If people want to create fictional accounts of our relationship, it’s a shame.”
