From Times Wire Reports

German authorities said they had broken up a global child pornography network involving about 26,500 Internet users in 166 countries. They said suspects were traced using computer files seized last year from a man in the city of Magdeburg.

The 530 German men identified as suspects in possession or distribution of child pornography included police officials, a border guard and “many teachers and educators,” said Juergen Konrad, state attorney general.

Prosecutor Peter Vogt said possession could lead to a year in jail and production and distribution could bring up to 10 years.
