A Collective effort [Inside] the Ford

GoodBYE, Hot Properties. Hello, etc@ITF.

The Hot Properties series of plays at [Inside] the Ford, the L.A. County-run venue at the bottom of the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood, is kaput. So is the ASK Theater Projects organization, which spearheaded the series during a four-season run that ended this year.

But in its place, from January to April, will be etc@ITF, which stands for Ensemble Theatre Collective at [Inside] the Ford.

That’s six otherwise homeless ensembles united by the fact that they’ve received grants from the Pasadena-based Flintridge Foundation. The collective includes Circle X Theatre, Zoo District, Watts Village Theater, About Productions, Critical Mass Performance Group and Ziggurat Theatre.

A sizable portion of the group’s activities will consist of workshops and other events short of full productions. “We’re not strident about measurable audience levels,” says Flintridge arts program director Angie Kim.

Still, About Productions and Watts Village Theater plan to present full productions in repertory with each other, beginning in March.
