Plunge Off Freeway Kills Lake Elsinore Man
A Lake Elsinore man died Monday after his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on the Riverside Freeway and plunged down an embankment, officials said.
Michael J. Gorman, 19, was pronounced dead at an area hospital after the noon crash just west of the Riverside County line, said Katrina Lundgren, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Gorman was traveling about 75 mph at a point where the freeway veers slightly; his car failed to make the curve, then crossed several lanes to the dirt shoulder and flipped several times before coming to rest on a hill.
The accident is under investigation, Lundgren said.
