49 Injured in Crashes on I-95, Forcing Closure
From Times Wire Reports
Dozens of vehicles crashed in separate accidents on Interstate 95 as a storm blew through a Baltimore suburb, injuring at least 49 people and forcing authorities to shut down the highway.
Maryland State Police Cpl. Rob Moroney said there were at least four large accidents along a five-mile stretch of I-95.
The accidents started happening about 4:30 p.m. when the sky darkened and hail and rain started falling.
Witnesses said the combination of glare and sleet triggered the accidents.
