11 Injured by Lightning Strike Near Old Faithful
Eleven people were injured, one seriously, when lightning struck in Yellowstone National Park where a crowd had gathered to watch an eruption of the Old Faithful Geyser.
The bolt hit the ground in front of the geyser, near the Old Faithful Visitor Center, park spokeswoman Cheryl Matthews said. It did not strike anyone directly.
The most badly injured was a 12-year-old boy. Two doctors and a nurse visiting the park resuscitated him, and he was flown to a hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The 10 other people were treated at the park, Matthews said.
