Escaped Inmate Captured in Atlanta
A kidnapping suspect who escaped from the downtown criminal courts building was captured Sunday night at an Atlanta-area motel by U.S. marshals, a sheriff’s spokesman said Monday.
Alonzo Taylor, 40, walked out after joining a group of inmates during their release May 3.
Taylor, facing a third-strike charge of abducting a 75-year-old Santa Monica resident during a burglary, had been incorrectly classified by sheriff’s personnel as a low-risk inmate, even though he tried to escape from state prison during two previous prison terms.
