Disc Jockey’s Death Now Called ‘Suspicious’
Police are calling the death of a veteran radio disc jockey “suspicious.”
Authorities found Karen Garcia, 34, dead in her apartment Monday after she failed to show up for her 7 p.m. shift at country music station KUZZ-FM (107.9).
At the time, police found no sign of foul play or suicide. But investigators told the radio station that some of her injuries are suspicious.
A cause of death has not been determined, said Jim Malouf, Kern County coroner’s investigator.
Garcia began working at KUZZ earlier this year as a DJ and music director. She had worked in radio since 1994 after studying at Fresno State.
