Man to Get $1 Million in Decomposed Corpse Suit

A jury in New York has awarded $1 million to a man who claimed a hospital let his mother’s body decompose so badly that he couldn’t hold an open-casket wake and funeral.
Veronica Gilson, 67, died during an operation in 2002. In his lawsuit, William Gilson, 27, of New York City, said Westchester Square Hospital left his mother’s body in a heated hallway for 38 hours because its morgue was overcrowded.
