Man killed as jack under catering truck collapses
A 45-year-old man was crushed to death when a catering truck he was working under fell on him after the jack holding it collapsed, authorities said Sunday.
His name was not released.
“Despite our efforts, he sustained massive crushing trauma” and was declared dead at the scene, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The incident occurred about midnight Saturday at a storage and maintenance yard in the 4500 block of South Western Avenue, where the man was working on the truck.
The cause is under investigation, Humphrey said.
