Military helicopter lands on golf course
From Times Staff Reports
A National Guard helicopter made an emergency landing on the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course early Monday morning.
The copter landed at 9:30 a.m. near the 15th hole, closing the course for about 30 minutes, said Vinny Poncino, assistant pro.
Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Hans Strand said the helicopter came from North Island in San Diego and, when precautionary lights came on, the crew brought it down near Avenida Adobe and Avenida Crespi. It took off later.
The National Guard could not be reached for comment.
