Abortive Cash Giveaway Leaves Homeless Angry

Hundreds of homeless people who showed up near City Hall to collect $10 bills started to riot after the activist who promised to hand out the cash left without making good on the pledge.
Police said Joe Canada, a Novato artist who organized the giveaway, might have been scared away by the size of the crowd. More than 500 people gathered to collect the money Friday after Canada gave out thousands of dollars worth of greenbacks to smaller crowds over the previous two days.
