2 Canadian Soldiers Killed in Ambush
Two NATO soldiers were killed in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar when militants ambushed them with rocket-propelled grenades and gunfire, the alliance said. An Italian photojournalist was reportedly kidnapped.
Canada’s Defense Department said the dead North Atlantic Treaty Organization soldiers were Canadian but did not release their names.
The Pajhwok news agency reported the kidnapping, and the Italian military confirmed contact had been lost with a London-based journalist, Gabriele Torsello, who had been working in southern Afghanistan.
