End of the Stardust era
THE Stardust Resort and Casino, pictured above in 1969, has been a fixture on the Vegas Strip for nearly 50 years. The landmark is scheduled to close Nov. 1 and be demolished early next year. In its place will rise the $4-billion Echelon Place project, with five hotels, two theaters, a retail center and a convention center, set to open in 2010. (800) 634-6757, www.stardustlv.com
