Google invests in Chinese website

Google Inc. invested in Chinese social network Tianya.cn. The website will run on Google technology, the Mountain View, Calif.-based company said. Google won’t disclose the size of the investment.
Google aims to lure people to its query functions with the sites, narrowing the gap in advertising sales with reigning Chinese search engine Baidu.
