L.A. is at the mercy of developers

Hello -- Wake up! Is anyone paying attention out there?

In the Business section, there was a small item about a new $60-million apartment-commercial complex going up at the corner of Federal Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. (“Complex planned in West L.A.,” Dec. 11.)

Has any city official tried to get through that intersection lately, especially after 4 p.m.? It is truly a nightmare. How can another massive building possibly be approved to go there?

L.A. has no zoning oversight whatsoever and is completely at the mercy of developers.
