Surgery by son has doctor in trouble
The 15-year-old son of two doctors successfully performed a cesarean birth under his parents’ watch, Indian officials said.
Dr. K. Murugesan showed a recording of the operation to an Indian Medical Assn. chapter in Tamil Nadu state last month, said Dr. Venkatesh Prasad, secretary of the association.
Murugesan reportedly said he wanted to see his son’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records, apparently as the youngest surgeon.
Amarilis Espinoza, a spokeswoman for the record book, said the organization doesn’t monitor or endorse such feats. The father might be stripped of his license and face criminal charges.
