Gymboree Corp. said first-quarter net income climbed 17% to $20.9 million, or 67 cents a share. Profit a year earlier at the San Francisco company was $17.9 million, or 53 cents. Sales rose 13% to $206.7 million.
Hot Topic Inc. posted a first-quarter net loss of $0.8 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $1.4 million, or 3 cents, a year earlier. Sales at the City of Industry company rose 2% to $157.3 million.
