Concert to benefit the Earth
The U.S. entry in “Live Earth,” the set of seven concerts being staged around the world July 7 to raise awareness of global warming, will take place at Giant Stadium in New Jersey, but plans are also in place for an unofficial companion concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum the same day.
The performers at the event, called “Viva Earth” and billed as “a friend of Live Earth,” are scheduled to be announced today, according to the website of Joe Fletcher Presents, the Northern California promoter who is organizing the concert.
Company president Fletcher said Thursday that the announcement might be delayed. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale June 2.
