Bratton’s 20/20 vision
Re “Police chief defends his criticisms,” May 23
Good for Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton. He saw what most of the rest of us saw in the videos recorded by television news crews: a small group of police officers out of control. He just happens to be an exception to a long line of political figures who pandered to the police union.
Bob Baker and his predecessors as presidents of the police union have worked hard since the Rodney King beating to convince us that what we clearly see on videotape isn’t what we saw.
