Reinventing the business model

Share

I am delighted to read that the L.A. Times will be protected from creditors while the powers that be get their act together. (“Owner of L.A. Times files for bankruptcy,” Dec. 9.)

However, the newspaper business model is flawed and until that gets fixed, no amount of legal protection will matter. I expect to continue to read about continuing subscription declines, ad revenue disappearing, layoffs and a shrinking number of pages.

As an avid L.A. Times reader it has been disappointing to see the paper reduced over the last year. Many of my favorite writers and sections are now gone -- Outdoors, Real Estate, Auto.

I prefer to view my news in the traditional way and do not want to spend more time on the computer. Good luck and best wishes for 2009.
