State workers get four-day week

Starting in August, Utah will become the first state to switch its employees to a four-day week to cut energy costs.
Workers will put in 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, and will earn the same as before. The experiment will be evaluated in a year.
The order issued by Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will affect about 17,000 of 24,000 executive branch employees. It will not cover state police officers, prison guards or employees of the courts or Utah’s public universities.
