Groups sue EPA over smog rules
From Times Wire Reports
Health and environmental organizations sued the Environmental Protection Agency, arguing that the Bush administration’s new smog rules fail to protect public health and the environment.
The lawsuit, filed by Earthjustice on behalf of several groups, maintains that the EPA ignored the recommendation of a key panel of scientists calling for more stringent standards.
Eleven states, including California, filed a parallel suit to overturn the EPA’s standards.
