Adopt a new approach
Re “Adoptive son is arrested in killing,” April 27
I am the mother of an adopted daughter and a son by birth.
I saw no reason to point out that the son in this story was adopted. Calling attention to this detail about a person who allegedly committed murder makes an unspoken connection between the two facts. I doubt journalists wrote of the Menendez brothers: “Birth sons arrested in killings.”
Unless being adopted is relevant to the story, it should be omitted.
