Climate legislation: A July 20 article in Section A about last-minute changes to a House climate-change bill said that Rep. Melissa Bean (D-Ill.) had made it clear to party leaders that she would oppose the legislation if they did not change language on derivatives regulation. The congresswoman joined other members of the New Democrat Coalition in sending a letter to party leaders expressing concerns over the language, but never expressly told them she was prepared to vote against the bill.
