NATIONAL BRIEFING / NEW YORK
Authorities say a Manhattan man secretly killed at least four of his live-in girlfriend’s cats as the woman unsuspectingly adopted new ones.
Sean Lynde, 36, was arrested on charges including felony animal cruelty. His attorney said he pleaded not guilty and was freed on $5,000 bail.
In October 2008, shortly after Lynde moved in, authorities say, two cats died, one by poisoning, another by beating.
She then adopted two kittens in November. One died in a fall and the other had trouble walking because of trauma and was returned to a shelter. In December, two more cats were adopted. One died of a broken neck, the other vanished.
