Australia’s Defense Department said one of its soldiers was killed by a Taliban rocket attack in Afghanistan.
The soldier was killed instantly when the rocket exploded in a compound in the southern province of Oruzgan, where a group of Australian troops was stationed, Defense Force Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston told reporters in Canberra. No one else was hurt.
Eight Australian soldiers have been killed in the war. The country has about 1,000 troops in Afghanistan.
