Regarding the story, “Clothing makers in frenzy over new lead testing law,” Jan. 16.:
I’ve been hearing about the dangers of lead poisoning my entire life. In six decades, I’ve never run across anyone who ever got lead poisoning from clothing -- or anything else for that matter.
If the cost of reducing lead in clothing is so high that many people will lose their jobs or will have to lose enough wealth that they no longer can afford healthcare, food, shelter, etc., what about the harm caused by the regulations?
I predict that not one child in all of America will even be affected by the law. But some will have to forgo healthcare, possibly with fatal results, to pay for the new safety regulations.
