One easy way to glam up your holiday table? Rent the linens

Share

Table linens are the perfect final touch to a beautifully placed setting. They soften the look of the table and help convey a subtle message that this get-together is something extra special.

But it’s a difficult task to have table linens at the ready for every occasion.

One solution? Rent them.

You can rent online, or at party-planning places. One place we especially like, for a more curated touch: Los Angeles-based Heather Taylor Home Events.

Designer and regular dinner hostess Heather Taylor rents out a line of handwoven table linens for those significant gatherings — from an intimate dinner at home for 10 to a wedding for 50 at a vineyard.

Taylor’s collection of color-neutral linens with pops of color is designed to fit a broad range of occasions without being too ostentatious or proper.

“It’s not about being Martha Stewart. It’s something easy, gorgeous, but also adds that magical feeling to an occasion,” she said of her collection’s aesthetic.

“It’s not just about renting for bigger events like weddings, but also for small dinner parties. Most people don’t have 12 matching napkins,” said Taylor, whose textiles can also be found on the shelves of retailers such as Jenni Kayne.

Linens can be rented by piece per day starting at $4. (And no, you are not on the hook if your drunk uncle spills wine on them. Normal wear and tear, as well as stains, are covered in the rental price.)
