FLEA MARKETS
Rose Bowl, second Sunday of each month.
Long Beach, third Sunday of each month.
Santa Monica Airport, first and fourth Sundays of each month. This one is my favorite. There are a few dealers who always have surprising treasures. Look for Joe and Walter near the entrance; Sal Hamdy, who brings amazing objects from France; and Dharam DaMamma with their dramatic taste in paintings.
STORES
Wertz Bros. Antique Mart (on Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica) is fun, but I enjoy more the possibility of hidden discoveries in their used furniture store, at 11879 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Los Angeles.
Antique Building Materials in San Francisco. Demolition companies come and go, but this one remains constant and continues to hold auctions on a grand scale.
