Fallen tree

Steve Topjian walks along the trunk of a 90-foot pine tree that fell in the frontyard of his neighbors’ home on Hatteras Street in Van Nuys. An estimated 500 homes and businesses were without electricity Tuesday morning because the tree took down some power lines, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Three cars and a wrought iron fence were slightly damaged in the incident. “I thought it was an earthquake,” said Beverly Greenberg, whose tree fell across her yard and into the neighbors’.
