Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, made of cake: This exists!

With all the “Pirates of the Caribbean” treasures out there, now there’s one that might take the cake.

Oh yes, cake. The world can feast its eyes on a nearly life-size cake of Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow, coming in at 5 feet, 5 inches. (Depp the actor is 5-feet-10.) It’s made from crisped rice and marshmallows and topped with royal and fondant icing and edible paint. PVC pipes and stainless steel support the statue.

British rookie cake baker Lara Clarke conceived the “Pirates of the Caribbean” creation for the Cake International competition in Birmingham, England.

“One of my friends was on the phone and said I should enter Cake International,” Clarke told the BBC, which has photos of the cake. “At the time I was watching ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’ I was watching Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, and I thought he would make the perfect cake.”

Indeed.

“He wears all these different fabrics, so he has lots of different textures to him.” Clarke nailed Capt. Jack Sparrow with details such as his beaded goatee, rusty compass in hand and slouchy, suede pirate boots.

Clarke has been making cakes for two years and learned by watching YouTube videos. “All I’d really made before was some bog-standard banana cake in home economics,” she said.

Now, her Facebook page boasts other creations, such as a 4-foot-tall Grinch, a Miley Cyrus head and even a replica of her mother-in-law, who will be happy to see Clarke’s Sparrow elsewhere.

“We live with my fiancé’s parents and I think they will be pleased to get rid of it,” she said. “When my father-in-law first saw him, he leapt about 10 feet in the air thinking we had burglars.”

Well, Capt. Sparrow sure knows how to steal a thing or two.

But alas, the “just shy of life-size cake” has been transported by minibus. And the cake might have been even taller, but Clarke was “worried we wouldn’t be able to get him out of the door.”

Clark started Capt. Jack Sparrow in September and said she clocked in 90 hours toward its completion. The British baker made it clear that “the cake is designed to be looked at, rather than eaten … so it’s probably past its best.”

Well then, “Pirates” fans, you can’t just eat up Capt. Jack Sparrow. But you can look at him all you want. Isn’t that really the icing on the cake?
