Letters: For the 9/11 story, a hefty fee

Re “9/11 museum’s admission fee stirs ire,” Jan. 25

I worked in the World Trade Center. I volunteered at nearby St. Paul’s Chapel after the 9/11 attacks, tending to those who worked in “the pit” — police officers and firefighters from all over, construction workers, utility workers and anyone else who came to help.

I was also one of the many New Yorkers who thought the twin light beams reaching up to heaven were the perfect memorial.

All right, they went and built a museum. Fine. It’s big and tells the story. But, with a $24 entry fee, not everyone will be able to afford to hear the story and learn from it, and that’s the whole purpose.

Otherwise, the 9/11 museum is nothing more than another attraction in a great city filled to the brim with stuff to see.
