Derek Fisher gets another late-season deal from Thunder

Derek Fisher will get another chance to win a sixth NBA championship.

The longtime Laker signed with Oklahoma City on Monday, joining the Thunder for the stretch run a second straight year.

The 38-year-old Fisher has spent more than 12 of his 17 pro seasons with the Lakers, winning five championships alongside Kobe Bryant.

Last season, Fisher was traded by the Lakers to Houston. After buying out of his contract with the Rockets, Fisher signed with the Thunder and played in 20 regular-season games and all 20 of the team’s playoff games.

He averaged 4.9 points in 20.4 minutes a game during the regular season and 6.3 points in 22.3 minutes a game during the postseason as the Thunder advanced to the NBA Finals, losing to the Miami Heat in five games.

Fisher started nine games for the Dallas Mavericks this season, averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 assists a game. He asked for and was granted his release from the team in December, stating a desire to be closer to his family.
