Suicide bomb attack hits U.N. convoy in Somalia; 3 dead
A suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a U.N. convoy near Mogadishu’s airport Wednesday, killing three people, police said.
The morning attack also wounded seven people, said police officer Ahmed Ali. He did not provide information on whether those killed and wounded were a part of the U.N. convoy or were passersby.
Yusuf Haji, a resident in the area, said that soldiers fired at pedestrians after the blast.
The militant group Al Shabab frequently carries out suicide-bomb and gunfire attacks in Mogadishu. The group has also claimed responsibility for two gruesome and deadly attacks against Kenyan civilians near the Kenya-Somali border over the last two weeks.
