Justin Bieber opens up about that roast, is ‘perfect match’ for Madonna

Justin Bieber says he’s beginning a new chapter, now that he’s served himself up for a no-holds-barred roast.

The “Baby” singer appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday following the Saturday taping of his Comedy Central roast, which will air March 30. DeGeneres asked him to revisit remarks he’d made after the acid-tongued roasters, led by Kevin Hart, had done their dirty work.

(Those jokes, incidentally, had included barbs about Bieber’s relationship with the talk-show host.)

When the Biebs was asked to give his rebuttal at the end of the roast, he got in a few quips before turning serious and apologizing for his rash of questionable behavior. The speech appeared to be the latest of the 21-year-old’s recent attempts to rehabilitate his public persona.

“I’m sorry for the stuff that I’ve done,” he further explained Wednesday. “I’m not searching for people’s approval but I just want people to know that that’s not me and I was doing stuff that wasn’t me. A lot of times we pretend so that we can fit in and then we end up looking like a ... and that was kind of me.”

The singer -- who gained success and worldwide fame after being discovered on YouTube by manager Scooter Braun at age 12 and teaming up with singer Usher Raymond -- agreed that he didn’t deal with the fame well because of his age.

“I really just didn’t know how to handle it. It went to my head and I had to let people pull me down for me to see the truth and to see how much of a jerk I was being. Now I just want people to know that this is me. I’m just a genuine person who has fun. I just wasn’t trying to be a jerk,” he said.

Also during the “Ellen” show, a revealing game of “Never Have I Ever” revealed that singer Madonna might just be a Belieber. The “Like a Virgin” singer and the newly buff Bieber partook in the sexually charged, secret-exposing bit, which led DeGeneres to conclude “you two are perfect for each other” after several of their answers lined up.

“I feel like I’m getting to know my new boyfriend,” the Material Girl quipped.
