Long Beach school board to vote on changing eligibility rule in district

Share

There’s an intriguing issue scheduled to be considered on Tuesday by the Long Beach Unified School District school board. There’s a recommendation by the superintendent to toughen up the eligibility rules. The recommendation is when a student transfers from one Long Beach school to another, they would be ineligible for one year of varsity competition, according to Gazettes.com.

If passed, the district rule would be tougher than the state CIF rule, which has about a month sitout period for those who transfer without moving.

Long Beach schools have lots of athletes moving around their district. It’s home to powerful Long Beach Poly.
