Debunking the myth that Vegas is a cultural desert, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art multimillion-dollar cultural campus with ambitious programming.

Its Broadway Las Vegas series has brought some of the best award-winning shows to Sin City, including “American Idiot,” “Les Miserables” and “The Wizard of Oz” — and there are more hits on the way. One of the highly anticipated shows to make its debut at the Smith Center is “Book of Mormon,” taking the stage in June 2014. Until then, satisfy your musical appetites with blockbusters “Evita” (Nov. 26 through Dec. 1), “Mamma Mia!” (Jan. 7 through Jan. 12) and “Porgy and Bess” (April 15 through Apr. 20).

The Smith Center’s program runs the genre gamut this month with folk hero Judy Collins in concert on Nov. 10, a performance by Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra on Nov. 17 and an evening with renowned blues artists Keb Mo and Shemekia Copeland on Nov. 18.
